016 : Final Report : Job Equip
Dec 15th, 2006 by admin
The jobEquip Learnscope team project involved staff from across the NSW DET AMEP Consortium.
The jobEquip team met weekly at Burwood AMES and explored social software tools to build effective e-learning opportunities into job related components of ESL courses. The team involved a total of 25 teachers and managers from NSW AMES, Sydney Institute of TAFE, UNSWIL, St George and Sutherland Community College and OTEN.
Highlights of the project were:
- the Showcase at Burwood which included a one hour online national presentation by most of the team members as well as a hands on opportunity for the guests from local and state government and a wide range of education sectors. View the recorded presentation, interviews with team members and links to all the resources and products at: www.protopage.com/nswames1
- many team members took up opportunities to participate in a range of external PD events including the NSW e-learning 06 Showcase at Randwick Racecourse.
- team members participated online and live in a hands on workshop at the AMEP conference in Perth
- team members participated in online and face 2 face workshops exploring e-business and Knowledge Management. Visit our wiki for all our e-business and Knowledge Management resources. http://jobequip.wikispaces.com
AMES Managers online and loving IT (maybe!!!)
As part of the Jobequip Learnscope team project, managers from across AMES, TAFE, ACE and a partner business: Zenith Information Systems (www.zis.com.au), donned headphones and spoke - at first hesitantly - into their computers.
Then the discussions heated up – those with microphone problems typed furiously, others made a grab for the mic and gave their views. Our facilitators, Marg Aspin, Director, Aspin Online Consulting (Aspin P/L) sitting in Melbourne and Dr Helen Paige in Adelaide shared their expertise in managing e-business and Knowledge Management. The virtual classroom discoverE (www.compued.com.au) was our venue for three online discussions followed by a full day face to face workshop in Sydney on the 4th Dec. All the resources from these sessions will be available in the project wiki at:
http://jobequip.wikispaces.com
Watch out for exciting possibilities arising from these workshops – AMES has been a world leader in e-learning and b-learning (blended learning) for low level literacy adults, is m- learning next? (mobile learning)
Congratulations to all the teachers and managers who participated so enthusiastically in this project.
