Mud Map: plotting the year ahead
Mar 6th, 2007 by admin
We’ve got a big day here at ICVET tomorrow with Chris Harvey who will be working with us to further improve our tools and communication channels.
I’m looking forward to catching up with some of you in the public afternoon session either F2F or online.
We’re probably clear enough in our own minds at this point to share with you a rough overview of how we would like to see the year panning out…..
Applications are due in by the 16th March and the selection panel meets on the 26th and 27th. The selected projects are then taken tot he NSW Framework Reference Group on 3 April for sign off. Allowing for some follow up alterations you should hear the results in the week following Easter. Note that we MUST have received a signed hard copy of the Organisation Statement of Support by this time.
Successful team projects [ONLY] will be required to send two people [normally the Manager and Facilitator] to an Induction Day on 11 May. This year we expect that it will be held at UTS Broadway. We’re planning a mix of networking, essential information and inspirational snapshots for the day.
Your project Plan is due for completion on 18 May.
The Plan allows teams to further refine their project concept and will require a short 50 word bio on each team member. This year you will put this directly onto your own page on the NSW LearnScope wiki; we’ll be liaising with and supporting you with this process. Only your budget and contact details will be sent by email to me.
Signed contracts, completion of the entry survey and 60% invoices are due in by 5 June. As soon as contracts have been exchanged your project can begin. Normally projects run from June to November.
Two virtual meeting rooms will be used in 2007. One for team use on a booking calendar basis, and a room in Adobe Connect (Breeze) for State-wide events. We hope to offer regular events to connect around issues and themes, and to allow exposure to key speakers and innovators. These will be advertised online and open to all team members. We’ll run through the use of these rooms at the Induction Day.
In the past we’ve run mid-year workshops in Sydney. This year we are trialling 5 regional one-day events which will be hosted by an RTO with support and sponsorship from NSW LearnScope. The RTOs and topics will be decided and advertised by the end of June. Your budget must include funds to enable at least one person from your team to attend at least one of these events face to face. The events will also be broadcast and recorded via Adobe Connect for further dissemination.
Mid project reports will again take the form of an informal ‘Postcard from the field’ submitted this year either as content for a blog post or as audio for a podcast [we hope to build out podcast facility into our blog this year].
This year we’ll be working on a facility to enable an online space for sharing project products. Our vision is an easy to use upload function/space that allows provision of a title, tags, comments etc and a search function for access by others. Note this is not a resource repository for glossy products but a space for real teachers and learners to share their learning journey and celebrate achievements.
We will again be using FlickR for housing an sharing visual images. Teams will be encouraged to register and use the nswlearnscope07 tag along with their own relevant team tags.
We’re heading off today to check out venues for the eLearning07 event which we hope will take place early November (TBC). This year we’re hoping for stronger Framework presence and improved connections with other Framework projects in NSW. We’ll be seeking ideas and further feedback to improve the showcasing/networking balance for LearnScope teams to be able to both share their learning and connect with others in an effective way.
Finally your final report, exit survey, acquittal and final 40% invoice will be due on 30 November. Once again your final report will NOT be a formal written format. The aim is to capture your teams learning and outcomes, and the impact of your projects on learners/clients in an innovative, multimodal way. It might be a blog post, series of hyperlinks to spaces, podcast etc.
This blog will again be the hub of all our communications. Other spaces and tools will link from here so make this a regular port of call.
Stay tuned for a great year and further updates!
