Rustling up a storm

You will have noticed that I use a lot of usable images from FlickR in my blog posts. Unfortunately the default licence in FlickR is ‘All Rights Reserved’. As a result many images that I’m sure owners would be willing to share, are locked away. If you have a FlickR account it’s really important that you think carefully about your default Creative Commons licence (you can always alter it for specific pictures later) and set that in your Account page - under the Privacy and Permissions tab. At NSW LearnScope we use the Attribution - ShareAlike 3.0 Creative Commons licence.
To date I have located images I can use via the FIND function on the Creative Commons website. It’s fine but gathering the attribution information is not straight forward.
Today, while gathering information for a section in our wiki on FlickR tools, I found a great tool which makes life much easier.

By clicking on the advanced search option in FireStorm you are able to search by Creative Commons licence. The search results are really clearly shown with options to refine your search. Once you have selected an image you can click on a link to go straight to it’s source in FlickR to acquire further information.
Very cool!!
Thanks Robyn that is a really great application to use. I also really love the Flickr toys you shared.

Yes Michael - I commented on Peter’s tool in this post - http://www.nswlearnscope.com/mosaic-maker but the benefits of Mosaic Maker is that it provides the attribution links
