Lifelong learning skills in a digital world
Sep 5th, 2007 by robynjay
There’s some interesting conversation happening at present over in the Alan November Weblog around web specific lifelong learning skills.
So far the following have been listed:
- critical thinking
- building community
- global voice
- managing massive amounts of information
- managing content via RSS
- self-discipline or self-direction
- respect
- social interaction
- keeping an open mind
- imagination - the ability to make the leap from the known into the unknown
- differentiating between fact and opinion
- letting go of fear - risk taking/ experiment
- viewing new opportunities in creative ways
- metacognition: knowing how you learn and discerning whether or not you really understand the information you are interacting with
- being an information producer
- passion
- active participation - contributing to the conversation
How do these align with the Employability Skills? How many are captured in Training Packages? What aspects of VET teaching practice enable these?
Would love to hear your thoughts in relation to VET, or head on over and add your bit…..
