Are you Going Virtual on Monday!?

Things are hotting up as we prepare for the Going Virtual 07 Regional Event which will be held in Wollongong on Monday 24th September - yes.. that’s next week! We’ll be exploring a range of ideas around the use of virtual worlds in education - with a particular focus on the Second Life platform.
If you haven’t registered for the event and you are planning on attending, please add your names to the Event page on the NSW LearnScope Wiki. There is also information there on accomodation, location and travel. We still have some places available, but you’ll need to be quick! Please contact us if you need further information.
AGENDA
We’re planning an interesting day of connections - which will allow people to engage with the activities happening at the real life event and in the virtual space via Second Life.
9:30am - 10:00am: Registration, Coffee and Networking
10:00am: Welcome and Introductions
10:15am: Keynote Session: Virtual Worlds - Trends and Opportunities. Presenter: Sean FitzGerald (aka Sean McDunnough in Second Life)
11:15am: Morning Tea and Networking.
11:45am: Hands-On Session 1: In-World Presentation: Virtual Worlds Team Report and a Tour of Educational Spaces in Second Life. Presenters: LearnScope Virtual Worlds Team and Jo Kay
12:45pm: Buffet Style Lunch and Networking
1:15pm: Keynote: Teaching, Identity and Play in Second Life. Presenter: Angela Thomas (aka Anya Ixchel in Second Life), University of Sydney.
2:15pm: Hands-On Session 2: Beginner’s Guide to Adobe Connect and Discussion on Virtual Classrooms. Presenters: Steven Parker
3:00pm: Panel Session - Discussing Virtual Worlds and Virtual Learning in VET

TECHNOLOGY AVAILABLE
For participants who are attending the event in Wollongong, we will have Wireless internet connects for you to use throughout the day. This will allow you to join and participate in the sessions being held in Second Life and in Adobe Connect.
Please note: You must bring your own Wireless laptop to be a hands on participant at the event!
VIRTUAL PARTICIPANTS - Second Life Location
The event will also be broadcast in Second Life - with presenters sharing their sessions from Jo Kay’s virtual Island - jokaydia.

Virtual participants will be able to join us to engage in the presentations by our keynote speakers and also the panel session at the end of the day logging into Second Life. If you haven’t got a Second Life account, check out the Getting Started resources available on the SLeducation wiki. We would also appreciate it if you could add your name to the Virtual participants list on the Wiki.
Please note that your computer hardware will also need to meet the technical specifications detailed on the wiki.
VIRTUAL PARTICIPANTS - Adobe Connect Location
The event will also be broadcast in Second Life so that participants who are unable to attend via Second Life can hear an audio broadcast of the event.
