Guest speaker Sean Fitzgerald lead us into a connected / disconnected / connected discussion with others in SL……. but how frustrating and predictable were the connection settings.
Still not sure about the lectern bit though.
As always, this is a bridging attempt to demonstrate the use of virtualĀ spaces and places in an educational context….amongst a million other flat web creations.
Alex Miller came on board also with some great references to the NSW LearnScope Virtual Worlds Leadership team and the things they are exploring in SecondLife and other online virtual spaces…..again for all of two minutes.
Yes, we are still a way off making this all seamless yet for some reason I think it does not really matter….we are flowing the connections as the occur. Connections are fluid…community builds then devolves and disappears. It’s all ethereal and yet real in the same breath.
There’s twenty people here physically and thirty people or so online spread through two virtual environments….not bad for mixed modes, mixed locations and a few dodgy connections. It’s a great learning curve…it will continue also.
Well done everyone on another great day. Technology was sent to confound and amaze and try us eh. Pretty frustrating from the Adobe Connect stand point - hard to contribute - just wish I could have been there F2F or in world. One day our work environments might allow it and its only days like this that will push the boundaries and make it happen.
Too true.
It must have been very frustrating Robyn.
I even got home and felt like throwing up for sheer frustration…..it’s the tired end of the working year thats for sure.
Take heart, I was online via Adobe Connect - found the day very worthwhile, continued chat while there was no sound. Would not have been able to participate at all otherwise so am quite pleased not to miss out completely! Great talks by Sean and Angela and thanks for the SL screenshots, nearly as good as being there! Would have liked to have a drink with you all though! Thank you and Stephan for your efforts! Most people would not be brave enough!
